木十字架

Raymond Bernard的Les Croix de bois看得出来受到苏维埃蒙太奇学派的一定影响,有点小吃惊的是,作为一部1932年的影片,它既没有带上过多的默片手法,也避免了有声片初期的一些通病,是一部相对成熟的有声电影。

Yuma

James Mangold的新版Yuma我看是过誉。现在这部片子被吹得天花乱坠,但以我看来,也只是一部中上之作,和Daves的1957版相比,也就是在角色的心理深度上有所强化——这是60年代以后好莱坞电影的一个趋势,算不得特别。顺便一提,Mangold有两个导师,都是很牛逼的,Alexander Mackendrick和Milos Forman。

比如最重要的旅馆房间那场戏,当前好莱坞那种快速剪接+特写的方式张力大失,远不如Daves的深焦镜头有滋味。

然后开John Carpenter评论音轨重看了Howard Hawks的Rio Bravo,这才是有史以来最经典的西部片(top 5),旧好莱坞的集大成,不过当时它也有“新西部片”的名头。然后又顺便看了之前Hawks因其失败而远走欧洲四年的Land of the Pharaohs,50年代的CinemaScope史诗,可以看出很多东西,好莱坞在那个时代是如何进行调整的。今天一般人说到那时候的宽银幕史诗片,也就是记得David Lean的几部,和《埃及艳后》、《宾虚》之类的,之外大量的同类片子并没得到太多关注。
